FROM A PHONE TO A RESPONSE PROCEDURE

How VIMS Lone Worker works

Protection starts with an employee-initiated session and does not end with a phone alert. Connect the Android app, available location and the people assigned to respond.

PROTECTION WORKFLOW

Four stages of one procedure

  1. 01

    Start the session

The employee reviews the data notice and starts protection. Check the phone, battery, permissions and connectivity before work.

  2. 02

    Identify an event

The app supports fall and immobility detection. Deliberate SOS lets an employee report danger without waiting for detection.

  3. 03

    Transmit the alert

Event information and available location can reach the system with working connectivity. A local pre-alarm provides an opportunity to cancel an unintended signal according to the app configuration.

  4. 04

    Dispatcher response

The designated person assesses the situation, contacts the employee and coordinates assistance. The site procedure determines further steps.

Outdoor GPS. Indoor zone context.

GPS accuracy decreases in halls, basements and shielded buildings. A QR/NFC check-in can provide workplace context instead of relying only on coordinates.

In the field

Available GPS helps locate an incident. It does not guarantee accurate or current positioning in all conditions.

Inside buildings

A check-in associates the employee with a zone, such as “Boiler room, level -1”. The last check-in is not a continuous position measurement.

On a site plan

Zone labels and digital plans help orient the dispatcher. Plans and labels must be prepared and maintained to reflect the actual site.

Without connectivity

QR/NFC does not replace a network. If an alert cannot reach the dispatcher, a fallback procedure must be agreed before the task begins.

Prepare the phone for background operation

Locking the screen should not end protection, but Android and manufacturer settings can restrict the app. Validate the actual device before deployment.

Permissions

Check the app’s required permissions, including background location during an active session. Explain their use before data collection begins.

Battery and system restrictions

Check energy-saving settings, background operation and battery charge before the shift. Do not assume all devices behave identically.

Privacy within the active session

Employees start and end their own session. Under the privacy policy, location may also be collected in the background during an active session; outside it, the app does not collect background location.

Purpose and access

Data supports life and health protection and is available to designated people. The product is not presented as a tool for assessing employee travel routes.

Organisation responsibilities

The employer defines the purpose, legal basis, access and employee information arrangements. Installing an app does not establish GDPR compliance on its own.

Privacy policy — location data

Before the first session

Test the working scenario, not just the phone.

  • Assess whether the task may be carried out alone.
  • Assign a dispatcher and cover for the shift.
  • Check the phone, coverage and check-ins in every work zone.
  • Rehearse alerts and the no-contact procedure.

VIMS Lone Worker is a beta assistive tool, not a rescue system. It does not guarantee detection of every event or alert delivery. Operation depends on network, battery, permissions and Android settings. In an emergency, follow the site procedure and call emergency services.
